Meet George Minakakis

Milton is Home

Milton is my home. It is where I went to school, where I met my wife, where we raised our family, and where I have chosen to serve.

My family has lived in Milton for more than 50 years. I attended Martin Street Public School and Milton District High School. My wife and I have lived in both urban and rural Milton, and our children were born here.

Milton is our home and it deserves leadership focused on its future.

Ready to Lead

I was elected to Milton Council because residents wanted more than idealism, slogans, and political talking points. They wanted someone who would listen, understand the issues, and work toward real outcomes.

They also wanted real-world executive experience at the council table.

That is the leadership I bring, and that is the leadership I will bring to the Mayor’s Office.

My goal is clear: Build Milton Better

Build Milton Better in a new era where growth, affordability, infrastructure, public safety, taxes, and economic development can no longer be treated as separate issues. They are interconnected, and they must be actively managed with experience, discipline, accountability, and a clear plan.

Milton deserves a mayor who will build a stronger, more modern foundation to deal with our biggest challenges. A mayor that will lead the work required to Build Milton Better, by making Milton the best place to raise a family, live in safe neighbourhoods, work close to home, and enjoy a high quality of life.

Executive Experience and Local Leadership

Leadership is about purpose, accountability, and outcomes. That is how I have defined my 30-year career in business, governance, and public service.

I have served as a senior executive, Country Manager, and CEO in Canada, the United States, and China for Fortune 500 companies. I have also had local leadership roles as Chair of Milton Hydro and Action Milton, which helped secure Premier Ford’s public commitment to stop a proposed quarry that threatened our water, environment, and quality of life. I have led people and driven performance in complex organizations.

That experience matters because Milton will continue to grow, and the growth needs to be managed strategically. We need to attract employers, create local jobs, support small businesses, and strengthen our local economy.

That is how we reduce pressure on residents and fight ever-increasing taxes: we build a stronger tax base. That is how we Build Milton Better.

Leadership to Build Milton Better

Milton’s next chapter will require leadership that understands growth, manages costs, strengthens infrastructure, attracts jobs, structurally lowers taxes, protects quality of life, and keeps residents at the centre of every decision.

Families are facing cost-of-living challenges. Municipal leadership can make a difference by being disciplined, practical, and focused on how the Town works, how decisions are made, and how services are delivered.

Throughout my career, I’ve improved organizations, strengthened performance, managed costs, and built better systems. That is the kind of leadership Milton needs now.

Milton needs a mayor who is committed to the future of this community, not personal interests. A mayor with real-world executive experience, public-sector governance, and one who lives in Milton. A mayor who will be responsible and accountable for the budget and the services delivered.

Milton is my home. It is our home. And I am ready to lead.
